Sitting on a hilltop, you will think that you have stepped into the long past medieval times, as the city looks like its straight from a history book. Not only is the town lovely and historic, but the town is known for having cheery and very welcoming residents to the tourists that pass through.
Located in County Limerick is the essential picture postcard village of Ireland. Adare has beautiful winding streets, with buildings from hundreds of years ago; set amongst the verdant rolling hills of the countryside. Due to its tiny stature, it has a tendency to be completely overrun with tourists during the high season. Try to visit another time if you can, without the masses of crowds however so when visiting this small town, try to visit in the off-season.
Located on the River Shannon in County Westmeath is the town of Athlone. This isn’t your normal Irish town, but a lively college one. This means that the colors are a little brighter, and the shopping will be a little more adventurous with interesting boutiques. Of course there might be a few more pubs, but it’s hard to say, as all the minuscule Irish towns love their pubs, and there are an abundance of them in all communities, even the small ones. The town of Athlone is built around a castle that proudly still stands in the city center.
